We lost.
Dream for America accepts that America has voted to re-elect Donald Trump & we congratulate him and his supporters on their victory. We hope for his success, pray that he will do right by our country & be a President for all Americans. However, we still stand with the millions of Americans and young people who share a different vision of America than Donald Trump and his MAGA allies.
The election of Donald Trump represents a debasement of American values, norms, and culture – by electing a 34 count convicted felon; adjudicated rapist and sexual abuser with a history of racism, misogyny, and homophobia who mocks the disabled; & wannabe “dictator on day one” who incited a violent coup killing 6 people after he lost an election.
Notice the lack of blame on election fraud. Notice the quiet in place of “STOP THE STEAL!” Notice the way Democrats, through tears and devastation, lose with dignity and move to unite this country. This election was not rigged. It was not stolen. We are not going to storm the Capitol on January 6th.
The American people were given a choice — and the voters have spoken. All Americans, whether we like this outcome or not, must accept the results of this election and move forward with a peaceful transfer of power. You can’t only love your country only when you win. Patriotism means loving your country no matter who is president.
Thank you, President Biden for a legacy we can be proud of: reviving a broken economy, ending a global pandemic, cutting costs for working families, standing as a voice of reason against the rise of extremism, re-establishing America’s standing on the world stage, and delivering visionary leadership on the issues that matter most to our generation.
Thank you, Vice President Harris — for a campaign of hope and joy. Thank you for running a historic campaign, rallying millions of Americans to turn the page on a politics of hate towards a politics of hope.
Over the next four years, Americans of every stripe must be cleareyed about the threats to our nation and democracy. We must be prepared to exercise our rights in the defense of our Constitution and the people, laws, institutions that have kept our nation great.
Last night’s election was certainly not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for. Yet, we’re more determined than ever to keep fighting the good fight because the path towards a more perfect union is a marathon, not a sprint.
In the days to come, we’ll have more to say on the path forward and where our organization will go from here.
We encourage you to join us in our fight to protect freedom, defend democracy, and stop extremism. Resistance 2.0 now begins.
Onwards!
