Dream for America (DFA), one of the fastest-growing youth civic engagement organizations in the country, today announced the launch of its first official high school chapter, marking a major milestone in the organization’s national expansion strategy.
The new chapter, based in rural Virginia, drew more than 300 students to its inaugural meeting — an early signal of the strong demand for youth civic leadership opportunities beyond traditional college campuses and major metropolitan areas.
“What we saw in that room was unmistakable,” said William He, Founder and CEO of Dream for America. “Young people in every corner of this country are ready to step up and lead when they are given the opportunity. This is what building democracy everywhere looks like.”

The launch reflects Dream for America’s broader mission to educate, organize, and empower the next generation of pro-democracy leaders across all 50 states. Until now, much of the national youth organizing infrastructure has been concentrated on college campuses and in urban centers. DFA’s high school expansion aims to close that gap by investing earlier in the leadership pipeline.
At the kickoff meeting, students engaged in conversations about civic participation, leadership development, and community impact — demonstrating what DFA leaders described as “high energy, serious engagement, and zero apathy.”
The organization plans to continue scaling its high school and college chapter model nationwide in the coming months and year, with additional launches already in development.
