Prevent Gun Violence

“Do something.”

That was the plea of parents who lost their children in Parkland. That was the plea of parents who lost their children in Uvalde. That was the plea of parents who lost their children in Columbine, in Oxford, at Sandy Hook and in countless other tragedies with countless other victims. With mass shootings occurring on a daily basis in the United States, gun violence has become a public health crisis.

An epidemic of gun violence has gripped our nation. While bearing arms is a right enshrined in our Constitution – the right to gun violence, however, is not. In 2023 alone: there were 656 mass shootings, 42,967 people killed from gun related injuries, 6,192 children and teenagers shot, & nearly 400 million weapons in circulation. We deserve more than mere thoughts and prayers. An April 2023 Fox News poll indicates that over 87% of Americans are in favor of common-sense gun reform. We can protect the Second Amendment while also saving student lives and preventing suicides. Gen-Z will be the generation to finally make gun violence a thing of the past. We must:
